The difference between fiber optic network card and PC network card
1. Different objects of use: optical fiber network cards are mostly used in servers, and PC network cards are mainly connected to ordinary PCs;
2. The transmission rate is different: the current PC end uses a 10/100Mbps PC network card, and for servers with large data traffic, the general optical fiber network card speed is gigabit, so as to meet the frequent communication needs;
3. Different working hours: The optical fiber network card has a special network control chip, which can work for a long time, while the PC network card is mostly in an intermittent working state, and the continuous working time may not exceed 24 hours;
4. The price is different: the optical fiber network card is better than the PC network card in various performances, so the price is more expensive;
The difference between fiber network card and HBA card (fiber card)
HBA card (host bus adapter) is a circuit board and/or integrated circuit adapter that provides input/output (I/O) processing and physical connection between a server and a storage device. Because HBA reduces the burden of the main processor in data storage and retrieval tasks, it can improve server performance. An HBA card and the disk subsystem connected to it are sometimes called a disk channel together.
1. It can be distinguished from the chip identification. The chip of the fiber optic network card is generally Intel/Broadcom. For example, the FS fiber optic network card uses the Intel chip, and the HBA card chip is generally Emulex/Qlogic. Of course, this cannot be used as the main method, because Emulex/Qlogic also has optical fiber network cards, and Broadcom also has HBA cards;
2. It can be divided from the indicator lights. Optical fiber network cards generally have two indicator lights, Link and Act lights; while Emulex’s HBA card indicators are green and orange, and there are two raised lines on the bezel, Qlogic HBA card has three indicators;
3. It can be distinguished from the speed: fiber network cards are mostly 1G and 10G, and HBA cards are mostly 4G and 8G;
4. It can be distinguished from the appearance of the interface: the interface of the optical fiber network card is narrower than the HBA card;
5. It can be distinguished from the configuration: the optical fiber network card is the same as the ordinary network card and needs to be configured with IP, while the HBA card is connected to the FC JBOD without configuring the IP;
